Beginner Sewing 101: Sewing Machine Basics (Bring Your Own Machine!)

Curious about sewing but intimidated by your machine? This beginner-friendly class is for anyone who’s starting from zero (or feels totally stuck).

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the essential basics to confidently use a home sewing machine, including:

• How a sewing machine works (the quick, non-scary overview)

• How to thread your machine

• How to wind and insert a bobbin

• How to test and adjust basic settings

• Simple stitches and practice lines (so you can start sewing right away)

Bring your own sewing machine if you have one. Don’t have one? No problem—I’ll have a home sewing machine available at the shop for anyone who needs it.
